Casa Toro 88 - (Near Kitchener, ON)

2 /5 Priscilla Wong: I think the atmosphere and restaurant are really nice. Balcony seating and easy option for takeout. Service was very nice. Food was meh. There was just too much sauce. I could barely taste the meat over the flavours of the sauce and it was so monotonous. I like the pineapple on the asada tacos. The chips and dip were good, nothing special and not really Mexican!

4 /5 Vedant Gharat: This restaurant is situated right in downtown Kitchener. They have lovely out patio and it’s great for summers and they have very limited sitting on top floor. We ordered birria tacos which were oozing with flavour, el pastor and nice chilled models to wash it down. In short it was a lovely dinner and service was excellent.

5 /5 Aaquib Mohammed: Been here a few time and had a really good experience everytime! The food was very flavorful and made fresh. Birria Tacos are a must try and has so much flavour in both the tacos and the gravy served along. The staff were very kind and helped with suggestions too!

5 /5 J B: Had a very enjoyable experience as Casa Toro 88 in February of 2026. I visited around 4:30pm on a Sunday afternoon and it was about half full in the upstairs seating - theres maybe 6 or 7 tables in total, most of which are for two people. So might be worth a reservation if you plan to visit during a busier period. Had the Casa Toro beer, which was supremely delicious. Glad I decided to try that out instead of the Modelo. For food, we ordered (for two people) - 1 order birria tacos, 1 order carnitas tacos, and 1 order shrimp tacos - so 9 tacos in total. In terms of food amount it was great, only a little left to take away. The birria tacos were by far the best - not just taste-wise but also ease of eating. The carnitas could more or less handle, but the shrimp tacos were basically a disaster - totally falling apart no matter how you try to pick it up. A knife and fork would definitely have been the way to go with those. Nonetheless, they were tasty. Just difficult logistically. Parking at the Benton St garage, to which the restaurant is basically attached, means it couldnt be easier to get to the place, either. Which was nice.
