Hot Tacos Restaurant - Windsor - Windsor

Vickie Smith Burgon We loved this place! We recently found the location in Leamington and had dinner and it was so delicious! We actually found this location looking up the hours for the one in Leamington to return but so glad we got the chance to eat here too!! We each had the quesabirria and birria taco promotion where you get 3 tacos n a drink for $20 which were Soo good! â˜ș the chips and salsa are some of the best Ive had in any Mexican restaurant. I especially enjoyed the selection of 4 different salsas served with the chips ranging in flavour and spice levels! I will definitely be back!!

Ukrainian Restaurant - Windsor

Rating: 4.7 /5
Megan Warmbein The Ukrainian Restaurant is one of the most authentic and heartfelt dining experiences I have ever had. It is extremely simple, unassuming, and located inside what appears to be a residential home in a neighborhood. When you pull up, you may genuinely think you are at the wrong address because it looks like someone’s house — but that is part of the charm. It feels like stepping directly into a traditional home kitchen rather than a commercial restaurant. The business appears to be run entirely by a 93-year-old Ukrainian woman who does everything herself — taking orders, preparing the food, and serving guests. The menu is very limited and straightforward, which keeps the focus on quality and tradition. Because of this setup, the experience is not about fast service or customization — it is about authentic, homemade Ukrainian food made the way it has always been prepared. Some online reviews mention misunderstandings about rudeness or language barriers. After visiting myself, I can confidently say that was not our experience at all. She is simply direct, efficient, and focused on getting orders correct. If you go in with patience, speak clearly, and follow along with the menu (or point to what you want), ordering is very easy. A language difference may exist, but it is not a barrier — communication works just fine with a little attentiveness. We ordered the cabbage rolls and pierogies, and both were absolutely outstanding — truly the best we have ever had. As someone who travels frequently and has tried many restaurants claiming to serve authentic Eastern European food, I can say with confidence that this was genuinely traditional and homemade. The pierogies were perfectly crafted — tender dough with a rich, flavorful filling that tasted handmade from scratch. The texture was soft yet structured, and the balance between the dough and filling was ideal. They were comforting, hearty, and deeply satisfying in a way that only traditional recipes can achieve. The cabbage rolls were equally impressive — flavorful, well-seasoned, and clearly prepared with care. The filling was savory and balanced, and the cabbage itself was tender without being mushy. The flavors felt authentic and home-cooked, not commercialized or adjusted for mass appeal. What made the experience even more special was her kindness. When it came time to pay, she actually charged less than expected. Since we are from the U.S. and did not have much Canadian currency, we attempted to pay extra in American dollars, but she refused the additional money and only accepted the lesser amount in Canadian dollars. She told us to just “owe her” and come back one day. That moment felt incredibly genuine and heartfelt. She clearly understood there was a chance we might not return, yet she still chose kindness over profit. She also offered to prepare the pierogies and cabbage rolls uncooked so we could take them home and cook them ourselves to preserve authenticity. We accepted that option, and she explained exactly how to prepare them once home so they would be cooked properly according to tradition. That level of care shows how much pride she takes in maintaining authentic Ukrainian cooking methods. The interior dĂ©cor feels timeless — likely unchanged since the restaurant opened — and that adds to the authenticity. It truly feels like entering an older Ukrainian home. When we opened the door, the aroma immediately reminded me of walking into my great-grandmother’s house. The smells were rich, comforting, and deeply traditional — the kind of cooking that fills a home with warmth and anticipation. The restaurant operates on a cash-only basis, so be sure to bring Canadian currency when visiting. Parking is limited — there is usually street parking available nearby, or possibly a single spot directly in front of the home that functions like a driveway if it is open. Overall, this is not a modern polished dining establishment and that is exactly what makes it so special. It is authentic, traditional, heartfelt Ukrainian home cooking made by someone who truly cares.

La Contessa Ristorante - Windsor

Rating: 4.6 /5
Anastasia Gasbarrini Dined at La Contessa recently and had such a great experience! The service was truly exceptional, attentive, warm, and never rushed. Our servers checked in just the right amount and everything came out quickly and beautifully presented. We started with the calamari and the shrimp bomba appetizers and both were so delicious. The calamari was tender with a light crisp, and the shrimp bomba had amazing flavor and just the right amount of heat. Portion sizes were generous as well, which we loved. For my main, I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs and it was perfection, rich sauce, well-seasoned meatballs, and a great pasta texture. Portion again was huge, in the best way! We finished with the crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e for dessert and it was the perfect ending: silky custard with a beautifully torched sugar top. Overall, everything was delicious, prepared nicely, and the hospitality was a standout. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!

Shawarma Kingdom Restaurant - Windsor

Andrea Change of ownership in the past year. New owner is such a great guy! Excellent customer service and our falafel meals were DELICIOUS. The best falafel Ive had in Windsor. The potatoes are perfect too, not overly dry like at many other spots and well seasoned. If you like spicy food like myself, he makes spicy garlic sauce that you can request. 10/10 experience, will definitely return and recommend his restaurant to others!
