5 /5 Mike Austin: If comfort had a postal code in Vaughan, it would be this plaza.
We rolled into Ramen Isshin Vaughan on a mission: warm soul, full belly, zero regrets. Mission accomplished.
Let’s start with the takoyaki.
Those bonito flakes were doing the little wavy dance on top like they were auditioning for Cirque du Soleil. Creamy, savory, hot-from-the-inside-out bites that whisper, “Yes, you deserve this.”
Then came the ramen — that gorgeous, glowing, miso situation. Thick, rich broth with depth but not heaviness. The kind of broth that hugs you but respects your boundaries. Jammy egg? Perfect. Noodles? Springy and slurp-approved. Toppings piled high like they had something to prove.
And that rice bowl sidekick? A humble hero. Saucy, drizzle of mayo, half egg perched on top like it knows it’s photogenic. It didn’t need the spotlight — but it earned it anyway.
Even the drink — citrusy, cloudy, refreshingly sharp — played its role beautifully. The palate cleanser. The reset button. The “okay, one more bite” enabler.
Is this a flashy, influencer-only ramen temple? No.
Is it reliable, comforting, and consistently satisfying? Absolutely.
Ramen Isshin doesn’t scream.
It nods confidently and says, “I’ve been doing this for years.”
