5 /5 Vikram Logan: Far and away the best poutine in all of Québec. The gravy is spiced to perfection, savoury, meaty, and thick, with a taste that you could drink for days on end. The curds, exactly as squeaky as youd like them to be, salty but not overly so, complement the gravy draped over them as completely as yin and yang. This squeaky but not squishy texture gives your mouth a break from the mountain of fries underneath. The fries provide this squish, imperfectly sized but never imperfectly cooked, and never soggy despite being squashed by the gravy and curds. Each fry as idealistic as the best, saved-for-last fry in an order of extra-large fries from any fast food place.
The service was great despite my broken French, and the place was full of locals, with no English to be heard. The only caveat is that they only take cash and are a bit of an excursion without a car from the heart of Montreal, but it is undoubtedly worth the trip, and would be even worth the trip from the West Coast for any poutine-enjoyer.
