5 /5 Celine Perron: I can’t say enough good things about our experience at 1 Elgin, not only was the service unmatched and so welcoming but the food was absolutely divine! I’ll be raving about it for a while. My mom and I had a wonderful time and the atmosphere of the place (though busy) was still perfect for excellent conversation. The wait staff was so accommodating and offered the best recommendations. Can’t wait for another opportunity to go back!

5 /5 Tara Fraser: We enjoyed our dinner at One Elgin before a show at the NAC. Very convenient and accessible location from parking to dining to getting to your show. Made for a seamless evening out! Service at One Elgin was excellent. Great options. Food was tasty, reasonably priced. We left fully satisfied and will definitely go again and pair it with a show.

4 /5 Dauc Haullidae: My spouse and I celebrated her birthday at 1 Elgin Restaraunt and I can say, with my whole heart, that this is how food and service should be. We arrived and were seated promply. Things were busy as people were settling bills to go to the show. Our server, Rhianna (I hope I spelled it correctly), came and explained the situation and that the service will go back to normal in a few minutes. Whenever she came to the table, she was courteous, funny and interested in us, making this night entertaining and enjoyable. I cannot say enough nice things about Rhianna, if there is an award, I would certainly vote for her. The food was very good, the chef even substituted kale for potato puree. Both our meals were wonderful, hats off to the kitchen staff who prepared it. The only bad thing I can say.... for the price we paid (its not exactly cheap), I expected the bathrooms to be a bit nicer. In all, we will certainly comeback and have told our friends whenever they are in Ottawa, this restaraunt is a must for a good night out. Thank you, R. G.

4 /5 OY CN: Reviewing a reviewer! Attended Peter Hums Opening Night banquet as Resident Chef. It was a delightful evening hearing about his family, heritage and food. For almost everyone, food is as much about relationships and associations as about flavour. Flavours and memories are thus closely linked. This dinner was memorable for all of it. What a tricky job to "elevate" traditional Chinese "comfort" food. For example, adding truffle to the wontons adds distinction, but not necessarily elevation. That being said, you cant go to 1 Elgin and expect to taste childhood staples as good as Moms, but at least it can remind you of her kitchen. The canapes, especially the shot-glass of soup, definitely had that reminder, as did the congee and gai-lan. The distinctly non-Asian Pannacotta was delicious which is something I never say for traditional Chinese desserts, so a brilliant departure there. The wine pairings with Chinese-style food is always difficult and i found it more confusing than anything. Again, the wine was totally fine, but I didnt think it was necessarily complementary. Tea probably would work 100x better. The service was attentive and friendly, and the setting in the Canada Room was top-notch. Overall, an exceptional evening. Thank you, Peter et al!
