1 Elgin Restaurant - Ottawa

Rating: 4.2 /5
Celine Perron I can’t say enough good things about our experience at 1 Elgin, not only was the service unmatched and so welcoming but the food was absolutely divine! I’ll be raving about it for a while. My mom and I had a wonderful time and the atmosphere of the place (though busy) was still perfect for excellent conversation. The wait staff was so accommodating and offered the best recommendations. Can’t wait for another opportunity to go back!

Mel D. My mom and I are visiting Ottawa for a few days, and staying in the Lord Elgin for the first time. She has severe allergies so when she sees somewhere she feels is safe - we go. She saw a special Thanksgiving menu at this restaurant so we decided to go. Well from the first minute, we knew it would be an amazing experience. The restaurant was full so we got to sit in the private dining room with only one other table. Then Owe met our waitress Daphnee who was absolutely amazing - so friendly and offered amazing suggestions. She even asked our names and used them - making it a very personal experience! The kitchen paid close attention for no cross contamination with allergens for mom. The entire meal and experience was a 10/10!

Fiona Calwell We ate in the basement area Jackalope for dinner with friends and got a variety of apps and mains. We had mussels, parm fries, lamb skewers and veg dumplings. All were tasty! Our friends tried the lobster and pork belly linguine and had a pizza which they both loved. We split churros for dessert - the dulce de leche was absolutely lovely. Cocktails were well made and the general feel of the space made it really cozy in our booth. We left just before it turned into the night club/bar style at 10:30 PM with a DJ!

C Z One of the few restaurants I keep coming back to. The Acadian seafood chowder was the absolute highlight of the night—rich, deeply flavorful, and incredibly comforting. All of the mains were excellent, beautifully executed with great balance and texture. Service was outstanding as always—professional, attentive, and genuinely warm. The chef even personally came to the table, which we truly appreciated. As a small note, the lobster dish was a bit saltier than my preference. I asked to change the dish, and the team was very accommodating. Overall, still a wonderful experience and highly recommended.

Sanmeet Gurudatta We had a great experience having lunch here. Their food menu is awesome. They had choices for salads, pizzas, vegetarian, and non-vegetarian dishes. Their beer menu is also as well. They had different types of air. We tried two or three both of them were unique and good. All food items were good. Wings were a little bit over fried nevertheless other things compensated for the taste.

Seifedin Gabi I arrived in Ottawa yesterday afternoon and searched for a restaurant near my place, which led me to this wonderful spot. I had the Ibex Special, and it was absolutely delicious—I thoroughly enjoyed every bite! The restaurant is clean, tidy, and well-maintained, creating a comfortable dining atmosphere. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and very sociable, making the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re looking to try authentic Ethiopian cuisine, I highly recommend this place!
