2 /5 Jeanine Reese: I went out with my family tonight and decided to go to Big Rig - We had never been to this one before but I have been to their Gloucester Center location. The menu at this location did not hold a lot of variety, and the service was quite slow. The cups for the drinks were small, which I found disappointed given the price of the drinks. I ordered the Smoked Meat Poutine, which was a decently large portion size, but it had cubes of smoked meat instant of thin/shredded smoked meat like I expected. It was more like ham chunks and it was quite disappointing - especially for the $20 price tag. I deeply regret this selection I made off the menu. One of my dining companions had a burger with an egg on it and I should have gotten that. He said it was good. Another issue I had was the washroom - every single stall except one had pee in the toilet or all over the seat. I understand that messy guests are not the fault of the restaurant, but you need someone going in and checking that. Ive had a cleaner experience at the Rideau Center washroom. I did not hate my experience, but will not be visiting again.

The setting is comfortable and inviting, ideal for a casual evening out, catching a game, or enjoying a relaxed family meal. The menu delivers across the board — juicy burgers, well-seasoned wings that aren’t greasy, and classic pub dishes done properly. Portions are generous, everything arrives fresh and nicely presented, and it’s clear the kitchen pays attention to quality. Their house-brewed beers are a standout, offering a range from light and crisp to rich and full-bodied, with staff who know the menu and give solid recommendations. Even during busy times, service remains friendly and efficient without feeling rushed. Overall, it’s a reliable Ottawa favorite for good food, great beer, and an easygoing atmosphere — I’d definitely go back.

3 /5 Devin V: Went here for a team lunch, ordered the classic smash burger and fish and chips. I found that the fries were quite soggy and some were over burnt. The smash burger was okay, patty was a tad bit dry as well. The waitress was excellent though and thank you for filling my cup of water many times and she was on point with refills. Parking is also a challenge here during busy hours.

3 /5 Ash.B. Dash.Smash: Its a mixed bag ordering here. My partner and I regularly order to-go from this location, and when they make their fries fresh, its great! But occasionally well order and get what looks like McCains frozen bag fries instead of fresh cut chip truck style fries, and it ruins the whole experience. Be aware, the fries are not the same from day to day.

3 /5 Gourmet Traveller & Pointer: Tried this place recently and honestly, the food didn’t live up to expectations. The steak was dry, and the fish was overly greasy. The appetizers like the calamari and shrimp were just okay—nothing special. What saved the visit were the spritzers (actually pretty good), the very nice and clean interior, and the staff. Servers were fast, friendly, and attentive, and the place itself is well-kept and nicely designed. If they could improve the quality of the main dishes, this spot could be great.
