1 /5 Nadir Chaudhry: My outing last night was spoiled by the terrible service and attitude of our server. Despite being a long-time patron, I hadn’t visited in months, and was really looking forward to catching up with a buddy over a drink. But when we arrived, the place was hardly busy, with just a few small groups scattered around. Instead of a warm welcome, we were immediately asked for IDs (which is fine, I understand protocol but you can do this cordially), and there was no friendly exchange despite my efforts. Once seated, it felt like a struggle even to get the menu; the server took her time and clearly showed displeasure with her frown and tone. To try and break the tension, I asked how she was doing, but she snapped, “What do you want?” I then inquired about specials, only to be told the kitchen was closed. I asked for a moment to review the menu, which she provided without much patience. We ordered drinks, but when they arrived, she slammed the bucket on the table and walked away without a word. She never came to check in on us for over an hour, didn’t pick up the menus off the small table, and we never got a chance to order anything else. As we prepared to leave, I asked if the bar had any plans for New Year’s Eve. Her curt reply was that it was a regular night. Despite the poor experience, we left a generous tip in hopes of brightening her day, but we received neither a thank-you nor a farewell. The entire visit felt hostile - as awful an attitude I’ve encountered as a customer anywhere. I’m struggling not to take it personally, and I hope it was just a case of her having a bad night rather than her standard attitude - but I can’t deny how it made us feel and I get the feeling that I won’t be returning anytime soon.
