5 /5 Justin Cunanan: I just ate at Lueur for New Year’s Day dinner and felt compelled to leave a detailed review because I was genuinely blown away. From the moment we sat down, the service was excellent: warm, polished, and perfectly timed. It immediately set the tone for an evening that felt thoughtful and seamless. The appetizers were a standout. Each opening dish was bold yet beautifully balanced. The beef tartare was rich and deeply savory without being overwhelming, while the hamachi crudo was bright, fresh, and layered with flavor. Even the Caesar salad impressed—it was elevated far beyond expectations, packed with umami, crisp bacon, and perfectly judged seasoning. The mains were just as superb. The scallops were cooked flawlessly and paired with luxurious elements that enhanced the dish without stealing focus. The braised beef cheek was incredibly tender, rich, and comforting—executed at a very high level. We also added the extras, and they were absolutely worth it. The sourdough with foie gras butter and fresh truffle was indulgent and addictive, and the seared foie gras was silky, rich, and perfectly balanced. Dessert was lovely, but what truly defined the meal were the strength and execution of the appetizers and mains. Incredible food, superb service, and a refined yet welcoming atmosphere—easily one of the standout dining experiences in Québec City.

The environment was warm and welcoming, while also serving some seriously delicious food. This restaurant hits all of the notes: service, food, and beverage. Thank you for the lovely evening!

4 /5 Anderson Araújo: Lueur truly delivers a memorable dining experience. The cozy bar-style seating might not be the most comfortable, but it creates an intimate atmosphere between guests and the chefs. The food is excellent: the mix of flavors and the freshness of the ingredients fully justify the price. The menu is quite limited, but the options are well chosen and will certainly satisfy different tastes. Dishes are served in a tapas format, perfect for sharing. However, this is not the ideal spot for large groups: seating is at the counter, which makes group conversations unpractical. The biggest downside, in my opinion, is that the small space and poorly isolated kitchen leave you smelling like the food when you leave. So, if you have plans afterward, you might want to think twice before choosing Lueur. Despite that, we had a great time, and will surely keep the restaurant in our list for date nights!

5 /5 Alexis Kirk: If I could give Lueur 10 stars I would. It was our first trip to QC and coming around the holidays, a lot of places I had wanted to try were booked. Saw Lueur on my second round of internet investigation, and so glad all my first picks were booked because Lueur was our favorite dining experience! We loved the service concept - only 2 seatings per nite. Bar service thats small, intimate, yet casual. The entire service is executed by 3 folks who rotate cooking, service, and bartending each night. The egalitarian, in-it -together feel translated to each bite. The host on our end of the bar, Terry, was so great making us feel welcome, explaining each dish, and approaching all he did with passion. We had the special pre fixe holiday menu vs their usual a la carte and each dish was better than the last. My husband and I were so impressed. Showcasing French technique with local ingredients, but nothing overdone. To say I love food is an understatement. Food is what I live for, but I am often disappointed by places that are highly acclaimed but feel too stuffy or like its more about the gimmick and flash than good, simple, local good executed with soul. Lueur had soul in spades.

5 /5 Amy Lowery: We tried to get into Laurie Raphaël, which was booked weeks in advance, so we opted for Lueur instead—and we’re so glad we did! It’s a fantastic local spot with a creative vibe, and sitting at the bar is a highlight—you can even watch the chef prepare dishes if you grab a seat on the far left. We started with the Martiti (a clever spin on the martini with a cornichon) and Le Winnie—both excellent. The bean salad with creamy tarragon vinaigrette and roasted almonds was outstanding, as were the scallops with shallots and king salmon. Highly recommend!
