4 /5 M.Stuebe: We came in with high expectations given all the praise—and while some dishes truly shined, the experience landed as a mixed (but still enjoyable) one for us.
The atmosphere was a major highlight: spacious, modern, and elegant. We arrived right as the lights were dimmed and candles were placed on every table, instantly making the room feel warm and inviting. Coat check was a nice touch and added to the sense of polish.
Standout dishes:
• Hokkaido seared scallops – absolutely excellent. Pork belly on top, sitting in a rich, flavorful sauce. This dish alone is reason to return.
• Bluefin trio nigiri – beautifully presented, with each piece featuring a different topping. Everyone at the table had a different favorite, which made it genuinely fun to compare and talk through the flavors.
What fell short for us:
• Surf & turf roll felt like it was missing something—either a steak sauce or a salty drizzle to bring it together
• Miku roll could have benefited from a brighter, fresher note (yuzu or mango came to mind)
That said, I appreciated the intention behind the rolls being pre-seasoned so soy sauce isn’t needed—a thoughtful concept that shows restraint and confidence.
Other notes:
• Kids soba noodles were surprisingly amazing, especially the broth
• Mocktails were excellent; the Emporial Soda was our favorite
• Bathrooms had a beautiful wooden aesthetic that matched the overall design
Would we return? Not necessarily by our own choice—but absolutely if invited, or just for those scallops again. It’s definitely pricey, but the attention to detail, service, ambiance, and standout dishes made it a worthwhile experience overall.
