4 /5 J Z: Third time to visit this place and it is a good place for deep-fried chicken. I particularly loved the mustard dipping sauce for the chicken. I have tried pork bone soup and seafood pancake last time and they were tasty. I ordered the new dishes like beef soup and jachae this time, however their flavour tastes quite similar and the beef soup is too salty. Would avoid ordering these two next time, but still come back for the chicken another time.

5 /5 Deeda: We were honestly losing hope after eating out so much lately… but OZ completely surprised us in the best way. Service was great from start to finish. We ordered the pork bone soup + chicken katsu combo, and I’m not exaggerating when I say this is the best chicken katsu I’ve ever had. We did the half-and-half, including the onion cream chicken, and wow. The chicken was insanely juicy—my boyfriend pointed out it’s probably because they use chicken thigh, and yep, it is thigh. You can really tell they actually care about the quality of the chicken. They also had promotions going on, so our total bill came out to around $60, which is crazy for the amount and quality of food we got. Everything tasted fresh, comforting, and well done. I genuinely can’t hype this place enough. It caught us completely off guard, in the best way. We’ll definitely be back—and next time, we’re bringing the kiddos too.

From Persian to Japanese to Korean, and Oz on Pinetree fits right into that mix as one of those small, dependable neighbourhood eateries. We ordered the beef bibimbap, the half fried chicken, and the Dduckbokk. Everything came out exactly how you want Korean comfort food to land. The Dduckbokki had that perfect balance of heat and chew: simple, tasty, and very satisfying. The fried chicken was crisp without being oily, and the portion size was just right. The standout for me was the bibimbap. The pickled cucumbers mixed with the beef added this refreshing crunch that really lifted the whole bowl, and the Korean hot sauce was on point; flavourful, balanced, and not overpowering. It’s the kind of bibimbap that reminds you why the dish is such a classic. The restaurant itself is quaint and cozy, and the location is hard to beat. Being right across from the SkyTrain makes it incredibly convenient, especially if you’re meeting friends coming from other parts of the Tri‑Cities. And if you time it well, you can finish dinner and wander over to Lafarge Lake to catch the lights; it turns a good meal into a full evening out. Overall, Oz is one of those places that quietly earns a spot in your regular rotation. Good food, great location, and another reminder of why Coquitlam’s dining scene keeps getting better.
