Bob&Simone We recently joined the Walk of the Ghost Tour in Old Montreal and had an unforgettable experience. Our guide, an actor whose name, sadly, we forgot, was absolutely fantastic. His performance was captivating, blending storytelling and theatricality to create a spooky, immersive atmosphere. Every stop on the tour came alive thanks to his expressive acting and attention to detail. He was also professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about his role, making the tour both entertaining and informative. If youre in Montreal and looking for a fun, eerie way to explore the citys history, this ghost tour is a must. Highly recommended!

Andy fuentes You absolutely have to visit La Grande Roue! I got there 30 minutes before they closed and had the whole place to myself—the views were breathtaking. As a Chilean visiting Canada for the first time, seeing this right at the start of my trip left me enchanted and already wanting to return to Montreal. ✨

9.Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal

Stephan Obarewicz A crowned jewel at the heart of the historic center of Montreal, where celebrities wed or receive a final homage after crossing the last bridge. It is also a place to reconvene for other momentous events, such as college graduation or midnight mass on Christmas eve. The latter is especially divine when choirs elevate the mass. The interior of the church is considered by some a masterpiece of gothic revival architecture, having been named the 6th most beautiful building in the world by the publication Angi, Notre-Dame de Paris being second and Gaudi’s Sagrada Família first. The vaults are coloured deep blue and decorated with golden stars, letting the pilgrims gather their thoughts and prayers in an inspiring awe. The rest of the sanctuary is decorated in blues, azures, reds, purples, silver, and gold, and with hundreds of sophisticated wooden carvings, giving the Cathedral an even more grandiose stance. Uniquely, the stained glass windows depict scenes from the religious history of Montreal, instead of the usual biblical scenes. Facing the altar is a beautiful and impressive Casavant pipe organ, comprising four keyboards and a hefty 7000 pipes. Approximately 11 million people come at Notre-Dame yearly, making it one of the most visited monuments in North America. Enjoy your visit and may peace be conferred upon you all.

10.Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral

Address: 1085 Rue de la Cathédrale, Montréal, QC H3B 2V3

Stephan Obarewicz A tribute to Mary, the Queen of all queens. For the mother of a man that changed the course of history, and still is, nothing is ever too small. Even though the cathedral is a replica of the Vatican at a 50th of the size, it does not loose any prestige, and its grandeur is quite suited to celebrate the Saint Mother. Set in the busy downtown area of Montreal between the financial and fashion districts, the cathedral could serve as a reminder that not only the material is important in life. The “pièce de résistance” inside the cathedral is composed of the four pillars of Solomon’s temple (the baldaquin) under which the altar lays. The original version having been built above Saint Peter’s resting place in Rome, the replica here may serve as a symbol of unity between the founder of Christianity and the Mother of its first prophet. The interior of the cathedral is a haven of tranquility, in contrast to the buzzing area it settled at and the flocks of nervous tourists coming around for a stop on their agenda. Built under the guidance of Monseigneur Bourget, Bishop of Montreal in the late 1800’s, his fierce admiration for the Vatican and the then Pope Pius IX, won Bourget the praise of the Pope for a new cathedral to replace the one lost during a fire. Bourget sent secretly one of his followers to measure the Basilica of St-Peter’s of Rome, so to replicate and bring home the subject of his awe. The result is quite respectable, masses are frequent, supported by soloists, and relevant for nowadays believers, joining yesteryear’s philosophy with current challenges in society. – May peace be conferred upon you all.
